Paul Armorgie. General ManagerPaul Armorgie (Owner/General Manager) – owned and managed Stocks with his family from 1979 until 2009. The Armorgie family can trace their ancestry back to Brittany and the French Huguenots. They arrived in Sark via Cheshire, Surrey and Sussex before the family bought Stocks in 1979. Paul trained at the world renowned Westminster Hotel School in London where Jamie Oliver and Antony Worrall-Thompson also trained. After college Paul worked with Brian Turner and Gary Rhodes at the small, privately owned Capital Hotel next door to Harrods in Knightsbridge, London. Paul met his wife, Jane, in London and they were married at St Peters Church in Sark in 1990 and have three children. Paul has been a member of the British Institute of Hospitality for 40 years.

Helen and Alex Magell (Owners) – Helen’s grandparents moved to Sark in 1972 and she would spend her summer holidays in Sark driving horses & carriages. Alex originally hails from Lancashire. They met and and fell in love at Agricultural College in the UK after which Helen introduced Alex to the delights of Sark over the next few years. Alex subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Helen as a Teacher. They were thrilled when they had the chance to move to Sark together with their expanding family in 1999. As neighbours and friends of Paul and his family over the last ten years they were both excited to have the chance to work together on the hotel’s new development and the ongoing daily management of Stocks. They share Paul’s passion of giving people a true Sark welcome and helping them enjoy the hospitality and beauty of the island, which is also their home.

Kathleen Dewe (Assistant Manager) – Kathleen first came to Sark in the summer of 1982 to undertake a period of work experience from catering college in Scotland. She met and married Nick, the son of a local dairy farmer, and she has lived on Sark ever since. She started working full time at Stocks Hotel in 2008 and was an integral part of the team during the renovations although is now pleased to hang up her hard hat and slip back into her high heels! Today she juggles her role at Stocks whilst being a full-time working mum with three children.

Pascal Lemoine (Head Chef) - Pascal joined our team in August 2013, arriving in Sark with his wife and 11year old son – a brave move for any family! Since starting as a chef in 1993, Pascal worked throughout France until 2007, when he moved to the UK with his family. He has worked in many different styles of restaurant although has always particularly enjoyed being near the sea and having the range of fresh seafood that this enables him to work with. Pascal has worked in Michelin starred restaurants and is thrilled that Stocks have already obtained two AA rosettes but plans to add to this in the next year. Having arrived with us part way through the 2013 season, Pascal is enjoying working with the fresh produce available on the island and from the hotel’s own permaculture and organic gardens.
